Basic information
Modul P_Extra_Life
Name Extra Life
Appears in all levels

Extra Life (called Life Extra in Ballance's own English Help Documentation), has the appearance of a pulsating pink soap bubble with a metal core. It is an object in Ballance that increases life (available attempts).

Function

By default the player is born with three additional lives.

When the player ball touches the edge of the life ball, the "soap bubble" will burst, accompanied by sound effect, and an additional player's remaining life will be added (add a "metal ball" in the lower right corner of the interface).

If the player orb dies after having acquired the Extra Life it was in for section, the Extra Life will reappear.

Upon completion of a level, each additional life is counted as 200 points.

Did you know

Two Extra Lifes of the same height, but only one of them has a road under it and a "reflective" effect on the road, which causes the extra life to bounce with a greater magnitude.
  • By default the player is born with three health orbs, which means the player can try four times (i.e. die three times). When there are no lives remaining, the menu will pop up with only two options: restart the level and return to the main menu. By modifying Gameplay.nmo, you can change the value of the default life ball, if it is changed to a large enough value, it will have an effect similar to Infinite lives.
  • When the player settles the score after clearing the level, the additional lives will be reduced at a certain rate to be "cleared". The menu will only pop up after the life ball is settled, regardless of whether you use the Enter or Spacebar to skip the settlement process (this is also the reason for the long wait after the infinite life pass).
  • Unlike the Extra Point which requires the player ball to touch its "core", and will not reset after the player dies and respawns, the player ball only needs to touch the edge of the life ball to gain this extra life, and the life ball will reappear.
  • The "core" of the Extra Life is 2D like the Extra Point and always faces the player's viewpoint.
  • It only costs one life to die and rebirth once, and the Extra Lifes in the same section will be restored after rebirth. This means that if there is more than Extra Life in the current section, the player can deliberately die and respawn after collecting all the Extra Lifes and gain an arbitrarily large amount of additional lives in the process. Therefore, it is generally accepted that a section not contain more than one Extra Life when mapping.
  • Sometimes, in custom maps, the position of the "metal ball" in the center of the life ball will be shifted, or even leaves the shell. At present, the principle of this bug is not yet clear; it seems that as long as the player dies too many times or the game time is too long, it will appear.
  • There is a bug where collecting an Extra Life freezes the game. This bug has been fixed with Ballance Mod Loader.
