Virtools is a [[wikipedia:3D Modeling|3D Modeling]] software<ref>Virtools can't create static 3D models; see more at [[mapping]]</ref> by 3DVia, which can be used to create or modify Ballance configuration files and [[Mapping|maps]].
Virtools has stopped updating for long, thus the downloading links on the web mostly are Versions before, or Virtools 5. However, since Ballance is made by Virtools 2.1<ref>This version is lost now</ref>, and the file system update at Virtools 4 made it unable for Ballance to load saved NMO files, the Virtools version used to modify Ballance configuration files and map files shall not be above Virtools 3.5.

== Brief intro to diffierent versions ==

=== Virtools 2.1 ===

The version used originally by game makers to create Ballance. Currently this version's been lost, making it a pity that nobody can get and use it.

=== Virtools 3.0 ===

This version can be used to create or modify Ballance [[NMO files]]. According to the feedbacks from some mappers, Virtools 3.0, compared with 3.5, gets better perfomance on Windows XP; however, due to unknown reasons, this version gets stuck at the licence interface on most systems.

=== Virtools 3.5 ===

The version used by most mappers. It's also the highest version that can be used to modify NMO files without the problem in Ballance loading.

=== Virtools 4 ===

It is said that NMOs modified by using this version can't be loaded by Ballance; however currently this version is almost lost too.

=== Virtools 5 ===

The highest version of Virtools. It has many useful functions, but NMO files modified on this version can't be loaded by Ballance. It's been proved that, by re-saving files modified by Virtools 5 on 3.5, the files can return loadable by Ballance. 

In addition, [[Ballance Remix]] is made by using Virtools 5 as its engine.
