zh A gheto is the dodging of a transformer. This can be used to save time/score, or to be able to pull off a shortcut in the next section. In the original levels, apart from the intentional gheto in level 12 section 7, ghetos are usually a form of shortcuts. However, in custom maps, ghetos may be the intended solution, and this can increase the difficulty of the level. Ghetos are often used in speedruns, and the most well known are the "Three Great Ghetos" (referring to the 3-1, 9-1, and 11-1 ghetos). == Types == The player speedystoneball created a classification of ghetos based on the position of the transformer in the path. speedystoneball's classification was designed for 2x speed ball, where the ghetos are usually easier and the distance from the corner is significant. If the height of the ending location (after the trafo) drops, a ↓ is added to the end. === Around === This is where there is a slightly larger space around the transformer. This can be when a transformer is on a floor that is wider than the transformer itself (such as at the end of level 2 section 3), or if extra floor is added around the transformer (such as in 5-2). Usually, skipping a transformer with a space of 1 unit or greater are not considered ghetos. Ghetos of type "around" are usually routine shortcuts and not so difficult. === Corner === These types of ghetos are given a number which is the transformer's distance from the corner (in units of transformer widths / multiples of 5m), and it's negative if it comes before the corner. If the transformer is in the middle of an Ɪ-shaped floor, then the positive value is used. Ghetos of type 0 where the transformer is right in the corner are not very difficult (similar in difficulty to "around" ghetos), but types other than 0 can be very difficult. Two of the Three Great Ghetos (3-1 and 9-1) are of type 2. This kind of shortcut can often save a lot of score/time when speedruning. Ghetos that aren't type 0 or around usually not intentional solutions. The success rate is very low, and artificially creating a high-difficulty gheto can require a large adjustment to the model of the floor, which is very cumbersome. === Flat === If the gheto has no corner within 20m (4 units) distances, then it is labeled as "flat". (side rails, monorails, and sideways paths are not considered corners). The paper ball has an uneven surface and is very light. Sometimes it can use its own elasticity to bounce on a straight road with a unit width and directly avoid the transformer, or to go off the edge and immediately come back. This can also happen with paper and wooden balls by monorailing on one of the double rails just before the transformer and going on the very edge. What needs to be pointed out is that type flat ghetos is extremely difficult and has an extremely low success rate, so it rarely appears in speedruning. Though, type flat ghetos are more reliable in higher speeds, such as a wooden ball in 4x. === Naming === A general summary of a gheto can be named "<player ball> gheto <transformer> type <type>", given that <player ball> is not the same as <transformer>. For example, the 9-1 gheto is "wood gheto stone type 2". Some ghetos are given special names, such as 9-1 Great Ghetto. == Examples == === Around === * 1-1: There is some space around the first stone transformer encountered by the player in this game to provide the possibility for the player to gheto. * 2-3: There is a stone ball changer on the straight road before the inventory in the fourth quarter, but there is considerable space on both sides to gheto. * 4-5: Unlike the other ghetos of type "around", this one is not easy. The paper or wooden ball can squeeze between the lamp post and the rightmost of the row of 3 stone transformers on the wave board. * 5-2: There is a sloping edge of the road around the stone transformer at the beginning of this section, and the player's wooden ball can gheto it, but it is slightly risky. === Corner === * 2-3 wood gheto paper type 3 * 3-1 wood gheto stone type 2: this is the first of the Three Great Ghetos * 3-2 wood/paper gheto stone type ½ * 4-4 wood gheto paper type 1 * 8-2 paper gheto stone type √2: The paper ball avoids the stone transformer in front of the checkerboard, and then neos through this area * 8-5 paper gheto wood type 2 * 9-1 wood gheto stone type 2: this is the second of the Three Great Ghetos * 9-1 wood gheto stone type ½: this is the third of the Three Great Ghetos * 9-3 paper gheto wood type −2 * 11-6 paper gheto wood type 1: The player's paper ball directly ghetos the wood transformer at the end without the help of a ventilator. * 12-8 paper/wood gheto stone type −4↓ === Flat === * 2-5 paper gheto wood * 10-3 paper gheto wood == See also == * speedystoneball's 2x speed gheto compilation ― https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWZggLQweqA
